Mesh?

That's one of the few bits I would say have to be checker plate.

FUBAR

Either that or something Like a Decking style wood floor as I believe Art suggested, + it would be more feet friendly than Mesh.  Which I also think would look quite good.

+ then you can smooth the edges off so its safe.
It's the time that we kill that keeps us alive...

Whilst decking wouldn't be bad, I don't think it would fit the look of the rest of the rig.

its not mesh as in chicken wire, its the industrial stuff dean uses for mez floors. the triangle doesnt realy need to be plated in. The mesh i sugested was for in front of the BBQ a lot better as anything droped will fall through rather than sit on decking

Roadkill

If someone gives me the size I'll try to get Checker for that, too.

Is that the same stuff as over the 'pit' in the barn?

yes mate

Jamieg285

Possible then, but I think the floor would be better in checker myself.

Roadkill

Did you say you had some, Graeme ?

As (typically) my source for that has "expired"

So checker it is then ?

I had 100's stock-piled but the customer decided he needed them scrapped.
Which we had to be happy with as technically they were theirs . .

so we have no grill then, seeing as some one desided to scrap the off cuts at the barn

I Thought you said you had something else for that ?

no i have a chunk of 3/4 plate for a hot plate thats all

Roadkill

On hindsight, that mesh would've buckled for sure over that heat.

It's not fire rated at all and is only 3mm Pressed joints . . .

Probably wouldn't of lasted more than 20 minutes at full heat . . . .

Roadkill

Let me have a think . . . .

F Body

Putting my health & safety hat on you'll have to be careful of heat sink ?

Don't want people getting burnt !

It did occur to me that although I've been completely useless at helping with the build , I should be helping to fund it !
Let me know what I owe ?

All donations gladly recieved mate

philoldsmobile

i believe we accept payment in steaks?

seriously though, dont feel as if you have to donate, its  not like you've not done the donut run once or twice mate!

its really not hard to fab a stainless grille, so the lack of mesh isn't a concern at all..

ballmount, towball and pin have been orderd from US auto (the bits i borrowed from me dad over the weekend) and are cheaper than origionaly estimated

should be here tuesday.

philoldsmobile

if we need some regualr sheet steel (2mm) for things like the insides of the wheel arches, we have stacks of small offcuts at work for free... typicaly they are 20" squaire or there abouts..

55starchief

Back to the grill sections, ow about some thing like this

Its a cast iron stair tread, cast iron is durable and will take heat, im guessing dean might know of a supplier if not we could try this company. the deepest they have is 305mm so we would need to cut the length to fit

way to go mate

philoldsmobile

cast iron will need some sort of coating or plating on it first, as it contains graphite, and is quite poisonous..

stainless steel is the best option..
