1m x 2m of 1.2 is over £50 per sheet..

0.8 mm (22g) is fine..

philoldsmobile

ply for the floor is less than £10 per sheet!

55starchief

This is why i wanted to use 3mm checker as it was about £28 a sheet would be much stronger than 0.8 and would still be paintable

philoldsmobile

doesn't need to be strong at all, there is a hell of a lot of framework behind it, its just there to cover the sides..

if you can get 3mm chequr for £28 per sheet, its going to be the way to go, because it can be welded to the frame from inside, so nu unsightly bolts or rivets..

are they 2x1 sheets?

Yes mate, will check all prices tomorrow with my supplier

philoldsmobile

ok, if we can get chequer steel, without being silly money, its probably the best option.

if we followed the line of the frame over the wheels, that would also save on steel, we could probably get away with 3 sheets doing that.

philoldsmobile

i think it would look quite nice, too..

55starchief

I really want to avoid welding sheet as it requires a lot of bodywork meaning an increase in spraying costs

philoldsmobile

not an issue with chequer, the pattern would loose the join as it does on the top..

can ya get steel fubar plate?

philoldsmobile

thats the kiddy...

£44 is a bit steep for an accessory though, perhaps later in the season..

Thats the cheapest i found. Might find cheaper at a breakers or ebay mate. You need the rears as the fronts are un equal in length

philoldsmobile

i think we will need wider wheels first, otherwise it will make the wheels looked tucked in..

55starchief

Steel Sheet prices are as follows

1.2mm 2m x 1m @ £12.50+VAT
1.2mm 2.5m x 1.25m @ £20+VAT

1mm 2m x 1m @ £11+VAT
1mm 2.5m x 1.25m @ £17.50+VAT
