wouldnt that melt?

Dunno.  It wouldn't get the full heat of the BBQ . . . and has pretty good thermal properties . . .

Anyone need anything cutting? dean you done with the humber?

Basically, yes . . . I think - Just gotta start making the base for it next . . .

Panel size then 1911 x 610 ?

55starchief

So the plasma would be an expensive rent for the single day then. What about the evo saw mate could you get that this weekend?

art b

That would be a last ditch thing mate

Re the heat transfer - when are we having a test run?

We can test out the BBQ, check the heat transfer and adapt if there is a problem.

I've got an infra-red temp gun we can use to be really scientific
(no white lab coat though)

So do i need to order the sheet tomorrow? if so what size and how many?

philoldsmobile

at that price, i think so..

any chance of nipping to the barn and getting length and height of the BBQ?

55starchief

ok, adding up the widths of the sheet dean cut the overal length we have.

2407mm x 24"

Hello all! I know this project has zip to do with me but I was thinking about your - what colour to paint the  BBQ - dilema.

You may want to consider a bog standard black cos with the filth from the roads when transporting together with the burnt charcoal from the actuall BBQ you may find that any other colour could be, well, discoloured! Black may hide the dirt?

Just an idea - not want to poke my nose in.......

philoldsmobile

so its going to have to be done in pieces then..

figures, the chassis was about 8ft, working on 3.3ft per meter, that gives 2.4 meters, so yeah, that sounds about right..

3 sheets for the two sides, plus at least another for the front panel. i think we would likely need 5 to be safe..

are we chequring the rear? it would be a lot stiffer than sheet..

philoldsmobile

what do you think, 1 or 1.2?

not poking your nose in at all Debs, all input is welcome!

black actualy shows dirt more than any other colour, i believe we decided on a dark red (maroon) type colour - like ryans car, but not metallic.

the tank itself will depend on what is available in heat resistant, but black seems likely for that...

55starchief

Ok will order 2 2.5m x 1.25 sheets tomorrow, will aslo try nd get them cut so that we only have a small amount of cutting to do
