250 quid plus postage

That's bloody highway robbery mate!!!!!!!!

The most expensive ACDelco alternator listed for your van is only 115 Quid +/- ($225)!!!!!!!! That one is for a conversion w/ all the electrical goodies, 105 amp.

A standard 105 amp alt from ACDelco is only about 63 Quid ($132).

Yep Rip Off Britian, still it's because we pay less tax and get paid more NOT

Pod

And (some) parts companies over here complain when we say things are priced too high.

63 quid for an alternator, plus delivery, tax etc. Maybe 100-120 quid total?
And they charge over double that.
On top of that, you quite often have to wait for stuff to get delivered from the states to them first as well!

philoldsmobile

the one for dads tahoe was about that much...in fact it wouldn't suprise me if its the same alternator

I got some pics of the one on it - if you can reconise it and see what the cost is i may well be using your services if they cannot repair mine!

Rip Off Britian

ianjpage

Right then - ripped the alternator out tonight (took a flipping hour!) not an easy job

The 2 bolt holes at bottom are what hold it onto the bracket - the alternator sits in a "U" assembley and bolts right through...

Main feed goes onto the bolt and th other wires are on  a multi block that connects to the lil black lip on the right.

Dunno if yours is the same deano - i would guess not...

carl - any chance of pricing up which ever one it is & shipping??

55starchief

Ian you could probably get it shipped on a fedex priority which is 24hrs or 2 day, the cost is usualy only about $10 more than the economy 7-10 day service

Roadkill

Definately not the same as mine . . .

But if you use fedex you'll deffo get stung for the import duty, surely it'll be quicker and cheaper to get it rebulit. Normally only around £50 to £60

sixpack2639

Ian,

The most common one for your van is an ACDELCO Part # 3342454 {105 AMP #19136012} GENERATOR,(REMAN) DELCO CS130D (105 AMPS).

Note, this is a REMAN not NEW.

Price is $116.79 + $15.00 (core) = $131.79 + $6.75 (shipping to me) for a total of $138.54

OR......I can get a REMY Part # 91516 {Remy New Gold}
100/105 Amps (Used to be Delco Remy)

Note, this one is NEW.

Price is $137.79 (no core charge) + $6.26 (shipping to me) for a total of $144.05

Shipping to you will be for a package of approximately 15lbs.

Global Express Guaranteed    1-3 Days  $133.50
Express Mail® International    2-5 Days  $85.00
Priority Mail® International    6-10 Days  $69.00
Priority Mail® Flat Rate Box   6-10 Days  $37.00

Mind, I will ALWAYS recommend an ACDelco part over any other, but you already know that.

Either way, I can get you one and ship it to you quickest method for less than 150 Quid!!!!

No import duty on an alternator, you would get done for the VAT though and you might not even get hit for that as the goods value is only just over the limit

All to do with commodity codes mate

http://www.uktradeinfo.com/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">http://www.uktradeinfo.com/

use the ICN online to find the item or its section then crose ref it with the taric to see what duty rate if any is applicable

yup, been doing a lot of research for the speedshop and you would be surprised on what you do and dont have to pay duty on and at what rates.

You have to pay VAT on everything, but the duty is a nightmare.

The leather interiors have no duty to pay on them just VAT

Transmisions have duty but at 4.5% same as alloy wheels

Yeah aint that the truth, but in all reality i cannot do without a vehicle now, work is 30mins from home, need to come to MK this weekend etc etc....so to have my own truck back rather than rely on someone else is always best and yeah cost is still a bugger, but 100 rather than 250 plus is sooo much better)

Maybe you could send their details over to USauto, so they can get a better idea of what to charge themselves.

Seriously thinking about getting one of these
