I wanta  daily driver...  very late model Pug 306 1.8 or 2ltr GTI would be perfect if I was to go european.
It's the time that we kill that keeps us alive...

It's it's got be an Alfa I'd plump for a 159 Ti 2.2 petrol

Looks beautiful and goes quite well without costing a lot to fuel

alfa-romeo have it going on in a big way right now, they just cant seem to do anything wrong... ok, the reliability has only just arrived (the just out of production GTV and 156 can still be a bit flakey) but what an amazing range of cars..

its also worth noting that although alfas are a little prone to problems, they tend to be comparitivley minor electrical problems such as central locks or power windows / mirrors failing, rather than catastrophic mechanical failures..

cam belts on the older twin spark were a bit iffy, but thats sorted now apparently

Pod

The front of the new Alfa is really cool, mainly because of the lights.
The rest of the car is a bit...

The first one is just boring all round.

philoldsmobile

this is stunning - the new alfa 169

ok its a concept, but alfa are very good at making concepts into reality

-edit- apparently its gonna be RWD and will be on sale before 09

Quoting: "alfa romeo"
Later two more powerful engines will be added: a 4.0 liter V8 diesel engine with an output of 380 hp and 590 lbs-ft and the GTA 5.0 liter V8 with an output of 530 hp at 7000 rpm and 442 lbs-ft.

really fancy an alfa for the next car..

the brera is sooo pretty, but gonna be too expensive for a while, and the GT is bigger (a plus in my book) so its likely to be the 159 or GT

its possible i could be swayed by an 05+ stang V6, but unlikely..

philoldsmobile

alfas are weird... the 156 has terrible reviews from owners, very unreliable, despite being an amazing looking and driving car.. the 166 from the same era has literally nothing but good reviews on carsurvey.org

how can one company fail so miserably with one car, and get another car so right, especialy when they share a lot of components?

Fieldy

To be honest, The concept looks good IMO, But could get boring and old very quickly.....

As a daily ? - I'm quite happy with the Eldo but as a next purchase . . ?  Probably a '49-'52 3-window 3100 Chevy pick-up.

'59 Impala's the best but the '67's sweet, too.

Indeed. A 59 Impala is probably the only 50's car I would consider owning.

i know exactly what you mean, and sadly the new mustang seems to be going that way a bit, and the PT looser definatley has, but european cars, especialy italian ones seem to age well.

the very first 156's are nearly 9 years old now and still look really good..

thats still a cracking looking saloon car...
