Can't you put the tape on only part of the thread so that you get the best of both worlds?

Won't paste give you the same problem?

Can you rig up some sort of earth strap to it?

(Let me know all the answers, as one day I will be doing this myself - just waiting for another reason to have the pull the header off)

FUBAR

I've no idea TBH the part tape should work in theory, I assume the paste leaves small gaps or something

For PTFE Paste try somewhere like Wickes.

Did have, don't know what happened to them.

Make sure you get some decent quality ones. Our cars draw a lot of power, and I melted a cheap set on my old Firebird.

Roadkill

Chris has got a set in the Fiero.

They're not bad.

Plumber's Mate I might have out in the Garage . . . ?

Cheers m8, no worries if you have, it can't be that expensive + probably useful to have around.

Borrowing the leads would be a bonus tho... that possible?

I think I will still need them as the battery will no doubt not be great, I think they tried to deliver my Carb yesterday so my step dad is going via the office tonight on his way home fingers crossed!
after then all I'm waiting for is a couple of fittings from US Auto to replace the pump - carb fuel line & then I can get cracking!  which reminds me, must phone to chase...

Anyway we digress... if I could borrow the sealant stuff that would be very helpful m8.

bloody US Auto wont have the 2 fittings in until monday then they are posting them to me, looks like this weekend can be scratched too  that is unless the current fitting actually comes out of the fuel pump... it looks proper stuck!
