Definately starting to think that Phil's right and its done 190,000miles

Mileage don't nessicarily cause rust.

If fact (in my experience) it's lack of use which causes the most damage to cars.
Being parked up in a garage is O.K but if it's parked up in a field or farm yard is bad, very bad.

EDIT: Long grass is a killer as it keeps wet and damp in contact with the floor pan.

FUBAR

Yeah then you do end up in Valiant Territory!
The last guy who had it kept it in an open Barn (concrete floor) but he only had it for 10 months so it couldn't have done that much Damage in that time, what was done before that is completely unknown...

Do you know for a fact that it was kept there all the time?  *Might* only have been for the period when he was selling?

FUBAR

I don't no, when I got there it was in the Yard, the underside was totally caked in "mud" though. we had 1/2 the farm on our drive when I washed it the following day.  that would explain it if he'd left that on there for 10 months.

Didn't you say the arches were clogged with mud when you picked her up ?

Or am I imagining that ?

EDIT:  Nevermind.

FUBAR

I'll post a few piccys later on when I get home. Its Scary

art b

most high mile cars resist rusting
taxis that do mega miles tend not to rust,
as there running all the while the water gets shook out or dried by the air flow,
its wet cars parked in poorly vented garages that fester!
This forum needs, ''YOU'' posting,Not just reading ! :moon:

Roadkill

I Think 190,000 miles is unrealistic, mate.

Just 90,000 hard miles.

FUBAR

I dunno TBH no way I can prove it 1 way or the other...

My Dodge had done over 250,000 miles over 35 years and was a true wreck !

Believe me if your Camaro had done 190,000, chances are it wouldn't just be rust you'd have to worry about.

At that point your entire steering rack, ball-joints, shocks . . . would be F**ked.

As Art says, being stationery does the damage, generally.

FUBAR

Don't tell me things like that... you're worrying me

The Car is breaking its new year's resolution to have a cheaper year already!

Giblets

Having not put mine through an MOT yet, I can only hope it's not too grim underneath. A largely garaged existance since it's respray makes me feel a bit better about things.

Hope yours is done spending for you Ryan.

FUBAR

Judging by the condition of you're car m8 I don't think you'll have a problem.  As for mine I highly doubt i'll be done spending on it for a while yet... its going to get an engine at some point!
