I arranged with Jamie last night for him to borrow " Black Beauty " my carefully crafted MONSTER brake drum puller
It will fit small pulleys etc but you gonna need 12 " of clearance for it to fit, not a problem if the pumps off the car
Jamie's using it this weekend but your welcome to borrow "her" anytime after

That's easy. Just weld the bonnet shut.

Edge has given up with the broken Fords . . . . he's moved onto broken Chevies.

I have a small 3 legged puller, and I used it to try and pull the pulley of my old PS pump.

All it did was bend the pulley, as they have no lateral(?) strength.

What you need is a proper PS pulley remover which clasps on the lip in the center of the pulley.

I just so happen to have one of those too

Dont the pulleys have bolt holes? as i have a harmonic ballancer install and removal set

EDGE

oh dear......

right, for those that were asleep...

I now have a 93 v6 camaro a

The camaro has a broken PS pump and the new one doesn't come with a pulley hence the needing to remove it and swap it on to the new pump,

Jamie, are you saying that the 3 legged ones are naff?  im not sure the pulley on this one has a lip in the centre, I'll have to have a look tonight.

It doesn't appear to have bolt holes so the regular type of puller that uses 4 bolts wont work...

EDGE

i cant bring the car up on saturday dude as im picking up the interior, im planning on stripping all bar the drivers seat out of the escort to make room !!!

55starchief

You wont need to go that far, you could get all the interior in the chavscort without the need to remove the seats, just drop the back ones down

EDGE

yeah, evan with the front seat in there still... that'll make 9 seats in one escort !!!

No, it's not naff, it's just the wrong tool for the job (assuming that the pulley is the same)

If you wanted to drop by, I have both tools, so should be able to sort you out regardless.

so the puller grabs that little lip near the middle, that makes a lot of sense..

ok

how in the name of all that is good and right in this world do you get the fooker back on the new pump.... without just beating it on !!!!

the haynes book says "use a pulley installation tool, available from your local auto parts store"  thats gonna confuse 7 shades of sh!t out of the halfrauds muppets !!!!

Correct.

The tool I have is a remover/installer.  From memory I think the inner shaft on the pump is threaded. You put the installer in it and then wind a collar on the tools shaft, which pushes the pulley onto the pump shaft.  Very easy with the right tools.

I'll PM you my address.
