Roadkill

Starting fekking about and freezing last night so I thought "Sh!t - lets back it up" but before I could start doing so I got Blue Screen of Death.

Tried restarting but no chance, moaning about boot disk or something.

Just before a LAN.  F*cking great.

Just buy a Mac and be done with it, all the new ones have bootcamp just ask edge, he is happily running his imac with vista for work and then leopard for every thing else

EDGE

Me neither.

TBH, my PC is a mix-match of old and new parts, some first hand some second and third hand.

What it needs is a complete overhaul.

I think.

ianjpage

ahh cr*p - i did say yesterday it stopped the once for me, but came back to life again...

Have to see when can pop over and take  alook see this week afore the lan if ya want?

Kenny

i'm sure we can fix it.  As a last resort we can shove your HDD in one of our PC's, backup all your data (if its not the HDD thats broke), then reinstall XP.

PC's might break easily but they're easy to fix too.

If someone could show me a mac playing a graphics intensive windows game with the same quality as my PC (i can't believe i'm gonna say this)... I'd switch to a mac.

A customer bought his mac in last month and i'd buy one just for the power cord (its just sticks to the side of the laptop with magnets! how cool is that!).

Incursus

Mine refused to get past POST yesterday.

Thought the worst then noticed Dave had left his iPod pluged in, just on a whim unpluged it works fine now panic over

Absolutely.  I've been having a lookie at the Mac laptop thingy Sammy's using and it's excellent quality.  Overkill in many respects.

But I've never heard of one being able to support demanding games.

well what game do you want to see running? i thought BF2 was heavy on the graphics?

Kenny

Can't see you tube at work... will look later.  (not that I can justify buying a mac anyway, I've only just upgraded my PC )

GF 8800 ftw

GF 8800 ftw

The imacs run ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO

EDGE

Quoting: Apple Web Site
The 20-inch 2.0GHz iMac includes the ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT with 128MB of GDDR3 dedicated video memory, while the 2.4GHz 20-inch model and the 24-inch models offer the ultimate in graphics power: an ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO with 256MB of GDDR3 dedicated video memory

I bought the 24", not specifically for the better graphics but it was a factor... but there again, i don't play any games... I've stuck 4Gb of RAM up it though so it deals with all my CAD software perfectly well :)

Looks really nice too....

You can get the 20" with the pro card as well

Nah tis old skool now.  even dean's old graphics card can run it no problems and that was one of Andrew's old cast offs.  5-6 years? maybe older Nvidia 5600FX or something

Don't get me wrong I very rarely play games these days so its not an issue but I still couldn't justify buying a Mac.

EDGE

the are expensive... you're right

Not if you buy a refurb from the apple store that hase the same 12 month warranty as a new one

EDGE

FU**ING PRETTY though !!!!

Size matters

I'm currently on a 20" flat screen in the plant conference room and it's flipping huge

EDGE

the refurb store usually saves between 10% an 20% off retail so you can get some really good deals.

Im probably going to buy another monitor too, probably another 24" so I can fit everything on that I need too, buying the same monitor means you can run the same resolution and drag things between screens and keep them the same size :)

need to get a pair, one each side. Surround vision

Totally with you there..  I like the mac system, the design aspects too BUT even though i do not play games that much anymore, i would still like to know that I could..

That said, my next computer my be some kind of hybrid..

Something like COD4 or Cyrsis is the benchmark right now I think..  The card to have is the GTS...
1968 VW T2 Bay Bus (currently being restored and upgraded)
1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ (modern classic daily driver)
