What was the first car you saw that made a lasting impression on you ?
It might be because it was so beautiful , ugly , fast , different , or.........

Mine was when I was about nine years old and living on the Isle of Wight.
I'd cycled to a garage a few miles away with a friend to pump our bike tyres up.
In the showroom was something very different and very orange ( this was the late sixties ).
We crept through the showroom door and got collared by the salesman , What you doing in here boys ?
Looking at "that" what is it ????
That boy's is the future I remember him saying , he walked over and touched a button on the roof and the whole middle of the car rose up,
it was like something from the Apollo moon race ( which was still to be won ) and we even got to sit in it.
OK so it had no doors , just crappy little plastic side screens but from my nine year old view point , it was just completely and utterly amazing and unlike anything I'd ever seen on the road before ?
So what was this radical departure from MK2 cortina's and Morris 1,000's ??

I have to say that i didnt real pay much attention to cars until my early teens. I remember watching Back to the Future and thinking damn those old cars looked cool. After that it was custom car and street machine as i grew up. The odd ford pop or consol but i always remember back to the 50's cars.

In my opinion car styling hit its peak in the tri years 55,56,57 those cars were the finest designs to ever leave a drawing board.

Other than that the only other cars that would make it to my garage would be the Volvo p1800s fo a 60's and a datsun 240z for the 70's both iconic cars for their time

Incursus

Probably Knight Rider. tbh

irl Audi Quattro early 80's  But wasnt really into cars so much.

And 1st yank I wanted was a black firebird, but after going to my first show it had to be a late 60's early 70's muscle.

I know the first 2 American Cars that really had an impact on me were the 57 Chevy and Thirdgen Camaros, for different reasons, the 57 Chevy was what got me into Yanks through that Game I played, it was you're starter car & I thought it was brilliant.  Then when I started looking into whether I could buy something even closely related to the Ideal I realised that I might actually be able to afford a car that fits into this newfound genre!

Then I had to take a leap & buy it!

I suppose before that It would have been the 80s Ford Capri

A 1960 Humber Super Snipe SIII (like the one I cut up)

It was big, shiney and different . . . I saw it at a local steam rally and the owner lived in the same town as me too . . . . (Got a photo of it somewhere).

I was going to Yank shows with my brother at Billing and Doncaster later that year . . . . . .

. . . . 1985 that would've been I guess.

Mine would be either my dad's '77 Ford F100 w/ 3 on the tree or the picture he showed me of his '72 Cutlass.  I never got to see the cutlass, it was sold shortly before I was born

I am not the only sad one then!!! I liked the fact it had guns in the back, so I could run over chavs and if they werent in enough pain(or dead) get a gun and shoot them!!!

A team van gets an honourable mention

Lusty Lass

I saw a fab car. I think it was Knebworth but I could be wrong. Small (possibly a beetle??) but what was noticeable was the fantastic red shag pile both in and outside of the car. Might make polishing a little difficult, still I don't polish the one I've got....

Lusty Lass

I have no German in me jus a lizzle Svedish.

Still, been informed by my other but certainly not better other half (te he he) that it was a beetle that so impressed me but it was at Brooklands not Knebworth.

Must have been the shag pile....................

Roadkill
