RUST on the F Body !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not that surprising really and I had my suspicions for a few weeks

The end of the rear chassis channels where they join the arch support rails is one of the many known 3rd/4th gen rust points. The edge of the channels protrude therefore catch all the stones and water etc that get thrown from the front wheels
I've been systematically checking all the known chassis rust spots. cleaning the underseal off and checking.

Nearside a small patch of RUST



Off side just starting to rust at the edge.



Rub back to clean metal :



Paint with etching Primer :





Two coats of Smoothrite :



Finished off with a good coat of underseal :



Note to self : Stop driving it in the wet

Surprisingly it gets washed a lot less than most cars, I'd say a jet washed chassis etc 3 times a year and hand washed once a month.

Quite often all it gets is a wet leather on the body work or wheels

I'd love to strip the chassis, have all the parts power coated and the underbody concourse painted
