Urrrgh.

Those old Alpines were nasty, rust buckets.

They were Chrysler Corps. attempt on the British market after they took over the Rootes Motor Group in 1976.

Needless to say they were crap and Chrysler buggered off basically until the PT and Neon's started arriving . . . . . .

Didn't think so...

My mum liked it aparantly... said it was very comfy, until the brakes gave out going down a hill... she wasn;t very impressed with it after that!

chrysler mutated into talbot, which was when they buitl the alpines sucesser - the solara ( i had one)

the english built ones (early ones were badged as chrysler) were terrible, but the french built ones (early on badged as simca) were not so bad. production ended in england, and moved totaly to the french plant and were built by pugeot - the last of them were not bad at all - build was crap, but so was every other car in the early 80's, and equipment levels were VERY high in the GLX models.

my solara was loded, exttremely comfortable, and 100% reliable.

bought for £100, cost £0 to get through the MOT, and sold 4 months later for £360.. cant complain.
