its moving to donnington,
having spent the weekend there at the moto gp ,
i can say it will take a lot of work to make it anywhere as successful as silverstone,
the access is dire and 5 hours to get out of a carpark after the main event aint gonna please most,
and its too far upt norf for most of the general populace..

Wow, that's A long time

Not seen any details on the contract yet, i.e. number of years, dependencies on development work being completed etc.

It would suprise me if this is just political bartering and the event will end up back at Silverstone that year or within 2 years at most.

This is the best news i have heard, about time it moved on.

Today has been a complete PITA what with road closures, traffic and the idiots trying to buy up the entire contents of all the shops around silverstone and i still have to figure out how i will get home tonight without being stuck in massive traffic jams as the F1 sado's head home

Well 40 mins to go 12 miles. I ended up zig zaging from vilage to vilage

Silverstone is very poor, it's archaic compared to most other F1 tracks
It's the governments fault for not investing in a showcase venue like other countrys
Jeeze they get enough tax from the F1 companies based here

art b

well donny is 10 years behind silverstone with facilitys and parking..

.all parked on grass,
b roads all the way from the motorway

Donny has a promise of £100 million investment over the next 5 years from a private investor; they have a 10 year contract but you can guarantee that Bernie will make them sweat for every day of it.

Will they be ready for next years GP? not a chance

You can't make a silk purse out a pigs ear even with £100,000,000 in the bank - although to be fair Posh spice hasn't made a bad attempt

I hate to agree with bernie but the government should have helped out - motorsport is just looked down upon by succesive governments of this country when in fact we produce some of the most prodigious talent across the board. It would have cost just 0.0002 of the budget they are wasting spending on the Olympics

yep ray all good valid points [even the posh spice one]

as the racing business provides so much employment and income for the uk, you would have thought a goverment would invest a little in it,
