Anyone know anything about push bikes?

I know you can get new ones for about £70 but it seems you get what you pay for, quality wise.

So I figured I would get a second hand one but I don't really know what to look out for...

found this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&&item=270252898289&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNA:GB:1120\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Silverstreak Equator  any good?

Not a name i am familiar with, Giant,Specialized,Marin and maybe GT would be my choices. With the above you know your going to get top quality components, but it depends what you want to do with it

Don't get A full suspension for starters! You will be pushing down instead of forwards....

The 1st one you have posted is A cheap one, good for A slow commute if that's what is needed, but the one Graham has posted is one of the best on the market IMO. Can't go wrong with A 'Specialized' or A 'GT', either no suspension or front suspension.

On A side note, if you get front suspension, Look for RST, they are good, cheap forks on decent bikes, I forget the best make of front suspension, but there is another that someone might be able to write up.

Also, 'Shimano' gearing and cranks are good to look for IMO

manitou, had a set on my specialized rockhopper back when they 1st started full travel, they cost me £700. I still have the rockhopper at my folks place, i had almst £2k invested in that bike but back then it was my only transport.

Name to look for are Mavic SUP rims, hope hubs and shimano gearsets, if you can find a flight titanium saddle its worth the upgrade

shimano used to start with LX,then XT and top of the line XTR on the groupsets

Its just to get to work and back. About 6 miles.

Kind of a trial run really.  If I use the bike often enough to justify it and it has the desired effect of saving me money on fuel then I could justify spending more money

hmm tis in Farnborough though

Front suspension good

Rear suspension very bad ( unless your going down hill mountain racing )

your best bet chris is to have a word with my brother as he was a bike specialist for a while and used to service them too

Totally my old old bike was full suspension and exactly that really annoyed me.

My new one is a Diamondback something-or-other from Halfords for £180 and i'm really pleased with it
It's the time that we kill that keeps us alive...

Kenny

ask mum. she did loads of research when she bought her bike.
