Anyone know someone who is good with CAD / Machining? A few of us were working on a disc brake conversion as a 'group' over on Earlybay, but now the main guy has left but will send everything we have done to-date to me - but then what lol..

The kits you can buy for the conversion are £1200 quid with the cheapest and newest kit coming it at £800 is for vented discs.. So anything cheaper than that is what we need

Well I have a City & Guilds in advanced CNC programming ( not a lot of people know that ) but it's been over 20 years since I went near a CNC machine

Not much action right now as cash is rare! So I decided to do some stuff that doesn't need buying parts..

The seats arrived on a pallet and the passenger seat had a slight tare on the back of it. So I repaired it.



While I was doing this, I noticed that the seats have a pocked at the back - useful for maps etc I figured..

Also when the seats arrived, the passenger seat-back winder was missing along with the plastic plugs for the lower trim - which has now been tidied as much as it can to get the scratches out. The local scrapy had a Saab 9000 in, so I pulled another one off..



Next - the seatbelt clips - I took the original Saab ones off the mounting on the side of the seat and replaced with the correct Secron ones. The clips were originally placed where the old lower mounting point was, but the inertia belt will not reach that far..

It was fine - way easier in the diesel Passat though. The Mondeo clutch is real worn though

Small steps, but slowly moving forward..


Figured I would start putting the deck lid back together..


One of the threads that held the hinges on was bent, so I had to bend it back into shape to get the bracket that has the thread in over the hole - anyone who has done this will know what I mean..  :msn4:


The other thread had a broken screw in it.. So I had to drill it out




Just need to get some fresh screws as the current ones have rounded-heads.. All fit nicely now though..

Back at my parent's house for xmas, so trying to get a bit done to the bus too. All little steps, but moving forward...

Put down a protective coating of POR15. Then played with a coat of 'light-grey' Hard-nose paint which came out white. Not that happy with it so currently key-sanding it again and spraying it a savannah-beige colour..

Yep, the newly painted red floor is covered with black splashes

Next time I paint the garage though, I want to go for a gloss finish

Its a slightly darker colour, more sand-like where as the shell is more beigey...

Right some pictures of progress taken with a proper camera not my mobile..



Just wasn't sure about this colour - you can see it against the shell colour and its too dark.. So a lighter 'beige' layer will be put down..


So keyed it back again..



Whilst waiting for different bits to dry, I decided to laqure the rear valance to make it 'wipe-clean' when spilling oil etc. I have only laqured the top section that is actually in the engine bay, the lower section I have left matt to keep the same as the rest of the shell.. The rest of the engine bay will also be laqured for the same reason.





I ran out of paint for the engine bay so decided to continue down the chassis with the protective paint..


Slowly edging forward..

Applying sealant around the edges of the engine bay. Once this is dry, it is good for another coat of filler primer, a sand, then maby top coat and lacquer..

I would be planning but I have no idea about money and availability..

I need to:

Finish engine bay / Gloss / rubbers back on (yeah that's right.. rubbers).
Roll shell, protect and finish chassis.
Replace all moving parts on chassis while rolled - bushes etc..
New wiring loom.
Roll back.
New front suspension.
Disc-brake conversion.
fit gear box.
Rebuild and fit engine.
Put headlining in.
Put windows in
Interior.
Gauges.

I think he is going to win...
