I also want to watch this. I always liked RD as it was very different from anything else on TV during that period and the character chemistry is just perfect.

SFX were far better than before but most of the jokes really did fall flat... Will still check out the 2nd one. Whenever it is - they didn't even SAY on Dave...

Hmm not sure on this new Red Dwarf....as FB said - where did the 2nd hologram appear from, Speciail effects were just too good compared to the old series, and there seemed to be a lack of humour / characters gelling together as well.

One thing i noted as well - it was too quite....watched the episode(s) after and there was always some background noise or summat - the new ones are super quite....

Still gunna watch the others but not impressed with it so far....

Not really impressed with the episode. They have done a squid themed one before (despair squid) which made them think things were happening when they weren't.
Nothing seemed the flow like before. Jokes sounded forced - especially the Cat
What happened to the rest of the crew that came back in season 7/8?

Did watch Gunman of the apolosype (sp) afterwards, fantastic episode

Thought pretty much the same as you guys..

The production values were obviously alot higher for the new series but in a way this compromised what Red Dwarf is all about - cheap props and quick whitty banter..

It needed the canned laughter back too, it was like watching a movie.

They also didnt show how they lead on from the last series with the explosion..

Will watch the rest of them, simply because its Red Dwarf, but its funny how producers and writers change formulas that work..

you reckon? i thought it gave the impression it was made on a virtualy non existant budget - no background sound effects (starbug engines etc) only one real set as such, CGI instead of models etc.. fewer props, fewer actors, the list goes on and on.

after all, CGI is now cheap as chips...

overall, it sucked though...
