whats wrong with it? Or is it simply because it is only the 3.4?

EDGE

its probably because its the 3.4... i could barely GIVE that one I had away!

Fieldy

That was a 3.8, but I never understood the point in having a 3.4, a 3.8 and then the V8, why do such a little difference between the smaller blocks??

Flip Martian

The 3.8 replaced the 3.4 didn't it? I think...

Roadkill

All the 3.4's I've seen (including mine) are Cali imports . . . . did California specify something special with their smog laws ???

Edit - hang on - it's got Jap mirrors . . . ?

Already noted

Jap import rear lights

If it's got a long MOT and runs OK it's still cheap

I had to PX mine in the end just to get shot of it... luckily, Richard took it in PX on the fox, i think it was worth £1500 as part of the deal, that was with the hideous dent in the side though.

He later sold it for £2500 i think with the dent fixed

I think this is better for the money

£2,000.00
Reserve not met

No doubt but it's looks like it will be double the price

The second one will go for more because it's a manual

I don't mind the Vert's

Not sure on how 'immaculate' it is from the inside.... I mean, the pics don't show what I would call immaculate....

Theres a 3.4 in my local autotrader for 995

Wantted to buy if for her indoors

philoldsmobile

the 3.4 is pretty poor, although the 3.8 is not exactly a firebrand at 200bhp either. its not a cali thing, all early V6 were 3.4, the 3.8 replaced it in something like 96

a 3 liter alfa V6, a 3 liter BMW, 3 liter toyota / lexus straight 6 or 2.8 mercedes  V6 all make more power and torque than the 3.8 chev, while using less fuel, its just a very agricultural and under developed engine.

in fact, most euro 2.5's at least equal the chev unit too, the alfa 2.5 is at least 190 bhp (depending on spec, some as much as 230) the BMW 2.5 is also there, as is the vauxhall omega 2.5 - and thats a terrible engine.

dont pay too much for a 3.4, the 3.8 is a lot better, but even that isn't a match for its euro / jap competitors.

EDGE

The 3.4 is just a bit shit really!

I felt mine had an ok punch to it, all the while enjoying driving it knowing I was actually getting 30mpg.

I do believe my 2.5i BMW E30 is quicker (I have no proof), but it's a totally different car ...... We all knew that when we buy the yank stuff.

PhilO, you were more than aware that your old Mustang wasn't the quickest, most efficient motor in the world, but at the time you couldn't pry it away from your hands for love nor money.

Craig, AFAIC, £995 doesn't matter what engine is in it, you know it's comfortable, fun and good looking..... That's a cheap car IMO

Ditto.

It had plenty of get-up-and-go even though it had high miles.

I'd certainly be happy with another . . . .

EDGE

In fairness I think my problem with that car was more the car itself rather than the motor. Thinking back objectively it wasn't slow at all, just lacked any major balls. Was great on gas though. I think I just didn't like the driving possition, you couldn't see a thing out of that car!
