Yeah, yeah - I'll admit I'm out of touch a bit with all the "recent" development within M.K . . .

I'm looking for a decent restaurant in M.K - preferably in the city centre - ideally no more than £60 / head.

Any suggestions welcome . . .

Any of the restaurants in the Hub fit the bill and the Italian and Fishy one are really nice.

Eeeerrrr... La Taska (sp?) and Loch Fenne (sp?)

Never been to anything that posh.

But depends what you want to eat.  The Hub a few nice places.
Loch Fyne is supposed to be a great seafood restarant, never been myself though.

Las Igaunas is a Latin place, I like it.

But if your taking Sammy I recommend The Living Room.
Food's pretty good, Charlotte look me for my Birthday.

Quite often go the Bar downstairs, Nice place normally a live Pianist...no Real Beer though...John Smiths extra spunk is the best.

If you want to go outside the Centre we've been to some very nice Pubs....

Yeah it's the fishy one, from memory they do do a little non fishy food (presumably for the kids) but it is mostly food of the gilled and tentacled variety.

You have to take into consideration the 4 bottles of wine for Deano...

I had been looking at the living room, already.

Any in the Theatre district ?

Can't think of anything 'posh'

The Tapas bar, Ortegas?  Is much better than the one in the Escape...

Zizi's is so so...

Incursus

I'm a big fan of Wagamama's as well, not exactly romantic though....Sammy has been I think.

It can be very hit and miss out of the 3 times I have been I had one excellent meal... I'm not sure I would go if I had to pay.  But I'm funny about Italian restaurants...paying that much for pasta, so easy to make at home.
And pizza is convenience, take-a-way food...for me anyway.  Guess you could say the same for many restaurants though

Oh I almost forgot Dim t in the Hub!

Also very good!  http://www.dimt.co.uk/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">http://www.dimt.co.uk/

Doesn't sound like a place you'd go on a """date""" . . . .

Dum Sums can add up pretty quickly but all good

Red Duck Curry is awesome! Good and spicy.
Duck Chow Mein was way too sweet for me.
and the Chicken Katsu is inferior to Wagamama's

Come on then spill the beans, I was going to say who is the lucky Lady

Well I never, congratulations

I've been married for 25 years, which has been more good than bad

ah, a subject i know lots about

a decent restaurant in M.K - preferably in the city centre

ok, the two are impossible when put together. You can have decent or the city centre but sadly very few go together imo

Zizis is the only one which can produce consistent OK food in the hub - but it is only ok - i like the calzone though

Loch Fyne is mostly frozen, if the fish isn't you will be as they don't like
putting the heating on. The two worst meals I've had both came out of loch fyne...

Dim Sum is ok for lunch but not a dinner venue IMO. Burger restaurant is ok...for a burger but maccy dee is cheaper (and tastier!!)

Others too noisy for an anniversary dinner

Living Room? I prefer my own

Like Thai? then the Thai restaurant above the jaipur is the place to go - you'll just about get in and out for under £60 per head - if you don't go mad on the booze - but you'll get magnificent food for it. Voted best Thai in UK earlier in the year. My personal favourite but then I've known the owner for years so I'm biased

Theatre district is great for ...theatre. Eat at home. TGI's is good for a quick after dinner blowout but not a celebration. The asian restaraunt is OK but not authentic enough in terms of the food

Further afield the Birch outside Woburn is good but you'll need a taxi or one of you drive.

The Swan at Salford is very good, ditto the driving/taxi thing

The Wavendon Arms is OK but a bit mass produced.

The Plough in Wavendon is becoming 'the' fine dining restaurant in MK but you'll be pushing your £60 a head

OR you could really push the boat out and take her to Fawsley Hall for a weekend break - she'll love you forever (which is only slightly longer than the time it will take to pay the bill) but the food is truly something to remember - they make agreat gin martini too which always gets brownie points in my book

Roadkill

Excellent, Cheers, Ray - although the weekend away is a no-go as I've got to do multiple runs to Banbury hospital this weekend.

I've been to the Thai place above Jaipur before and it was very good.
