Jeeps are great fun - really enjoyed having the Sahara version we had - loads of power and so nice to drive

Roadkill

Jeeps are really, really not my bag.

Still.  If it floats yer boat - it's better than a Eurobox !

It's up for 3.5 on their site...

As for the transmission, given the specialist nature of them, I highly doubt it...

FUBAR

quite a considerable markup from what they paid you for it
It's the time that we kill that keeps us alive...

I image in was bought at auction for £1,500 - £1,900 (probably the former) and then matey is marking it up by £1,500 or so.

Motorama

and if he makes £1500 profit on it he has to pay the VAT man out of that figure and then the tax man out of whats left, then there's prep(although to be fair it was already a minter) and overheads. He wont be getting rich on it.

Roadkill

He may not be getting rich on it but it seems he'll be selling a car with a fooked 'box on to some poor innocent sap.

Just imagine if the original seller had been honest about the cars fault it could all be avoided, bit late for a concience(sp) now.

Well, it's a $50 part, the problem is the labour to do it, so *if* a dealer can drop the front subframe, separate the engine and box and replace a valve in the box then it has cost him $50 plus time netting as nice profit.

On the other hand, if he's just bought it cheap and plans to flip it to make 2k (less costs) then he's out of luck.

What he could do is register it with an aftermarket warranty supplier and claim it...

philoldsmobile

this is the problem with buying a specialist car from a non specialist stealer.

I was looking at another alfa 166 before I bought the blue one, the guy wanted £3k for it (top money for a 2 liter, despite them originally asking £5k)  and mentioned it had a replacment engine. (odd at 50k miles)

when I quizzed them about the warranty, they revealed it was only for claims up to £300, but then really revealed their ignorance by claiming they can fix pretty much anything for £300

needless to say, i didn't bother with the drive to manchester... a year later it was still there!

dealers like that are best off sticking to Astras.

it does make me smile how you can manage to bring Alfas into it whatever the subject

The fun thing will be to see if this car dealer will be a shining example of the breed having fixed it, or if he will fit the stereotype by trying to shift it without fixing it...

Motorama

Ha Ha

who knows, most people are so unfamiliar with our type of cars they probably havent even realised there's a problem yet

EDGE

I rekon we should go test drive it and point out the problem to him. You know, just so he knows :)
