Now why would an Alfa owner be looking for statring aids

philoldsmobile

in case he needs it for helping out a dodgy old yank tank

-edit-

a guy at work has an astra with a *possible* head gasket fault (although its not showing conclusive signs, and also could well be a stuck thermostat) as the owner doesn't want to spend much money, and has no internet access, i got some k seal off ebay for him, and this was from the same seller.

his water loss is VERY minimal, so were gonna stick k seal in first to see what happens.  The stat is definitely stuck open though, as the temp stays totally cold, and the rad has water flow through it from startup. did a block test, and it came back clear (fluid stayed blue) but there is some emulsification in the oil, although this could be from it running so cold.

water level has dropped only very slightly in a month, slight enough it could be from some other minor cooling system leak.

Assuming someone hasn't taken out

nah, it was working when he bought the car...

with the rediculous position of the stat (behind the cam belt) the ammount of work needed to remove it makes it too much hassle to remove it without replacing.

Vauxhall FTL. last decent car they built was the cavalier
