I had to post this, my old man bought his first bike from a 'Deans Garage' in Wokingham!! We all lived in Wokingham up until 9 years ago!

I wonder if its the same place?

In all seriousness, i'd rather it wasn't.

There is a post up in announcements which lists all the forum areas for people to see whats there & ask for access, use that.

In that case we may as well have the Music and Movies, Food and Drink and the P.C / Mac / Gaming stuff all restricted as well ?

Having a busy, active and visible forum helps SEO for the site to get it up Google search rankings.. Google wants to see a site that is relevant to the content and is updated frequently. If you hide-stuff it limits what the bots will see making MKB to appear slow and inappropriate which will loose it's ranking on Google - so new members would become a real rarity.

Although, I agree that too many sub-forums becomes a chore to browse through, but the 'most recent topics' solves that issue.

My reason for wanting as much on show is because the MKB came about because "other forums" had habits of hiding stuff away and keeping things concealed for no reason.

We're an American car club, sure, but that's not the only thing we're interested in . . .

I don't see any harm in making / keeping non-american car related stuff visable to all.

It's not going to alter how and what we post so where's the harm in it ?

philoldsmobile

I agree, its quite obvious that its an american car forum, but a bit of variety is always good.

I dont see it any different to having the computers / gaming forum visible. ok, we all have a computer, but the majority of us don't game..

TBH I'm not fussed either way, but I don't see any real reason for hiding it.

FUBAR

yeah fair doos, go for it then

Make Bikes forum Visable?

FUBAR

I haven't voted, i'm kind of neutral but I guess I don't mind having to look past all the bike posts in the recent topics list...

The only reason the food/computers/music etc forums were visible to all was just because thats how they were setup from the outset, the bike forum was setup as requestable, just how it was done.

So yeah i'm officially sitting on the proverbial fence on this one, it would be nice not to have to scroll past all the bike threads, but I don't mind in the interest of "evening things out a bit" and making the forum appear more active when Skynet pokes its cyber-eye in to see what we're up too
