just seemed a little pricey to me! I have stated that I never realized people payed that for a nova!

I saw a boggo MK1 Astra SR for £3k a few weeks ago

I'd say its worth every penny of that now, you will pay similar money for an XR2 of the same age and condition...

not my cup of tea, but nice to see an original unmolested one.

about the same as the Nova SR of the same vintage - they were direct rivals. the nova SR was marginally slower, and the SRi / GTE was marginally quicker than the XR2

wasn't an XR2 A 1.6, with the Nova being a 1.3?

I fail to see how the Nova advertised was as quick and handled as an XR2

there was only about 15 bhp in it.

the SR was only marginally slower, while the SRI was quicker than the XR2. as direct competitors its not surprising they were very close.

they were even closely matched for speed rusting to a pile of dust!

Vauxhalls always seemed to get a bit more power for a given engine size - case in point the sierra v cavalier - the 1.6 cav had the same sort of performance as the 2.0 sierra, the 2 liter cav was about on par with the 2.3 sierra, and the 2 liter cav SRI was almost exactly as quick as the 2.8 XR4i
